Topic for July 28, 2015: Top Ten Characters who are Fellow Book Nerds

This topic is wonderful for us readers. Characters who are book nerds often speak to our own book-loving souls. But, let me tell you. Coming up with ten characters who fit this criteria was definitely a challenge! But, for my first Top Ten Tuesday post, I was determined to bring you a good list.

Here are my favorite book nerd characters:

  • Hermione Granger – Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
    • Pretty obvious, I’d say.
  • Guy Montag – Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
    • Not so much a book nerd, but does sacrifice for the sake of books.
  • Elizabeth Bennet – Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
    • Duh.


  • Sam Roth – Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater
    • Works in a book store, writes poetry… dream guy.
  • Caleb Prior – Divergent by Veronica Roth
    • Book nerd in secret. Typical Erudite with all those books!
  • Auden – Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
    • A very academic character.

  • Ethan – Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin
    • He writes a novel, so he must be a book nerd. Plus. John Krasinski in the movie. ‘Nuff said.
  • Ponyboy Curtis – The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton
    • Ponyboy reads Gone With the Wind to Johnny and quotes Robert Frost. Yeah.
  • Klaus Baudelaire – A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket
    • The family researcher.

  • Arthur – The Arthur Trilogy by Kevin Crossley-Holland
    • His father sends him to become a great scribe due to his reading and writing skills.
